Precast/Prestressed Concrete Overview

Phil will give a brief overview of available structural and architectural precast and prestressed components as well as their applications and benefits. He will  begin with an introduction of the utilization of prestressed strand in precast concrete components and then move into the high performance aspects available with precast concrete. We will examine topics of design flexibility, durability, fire resistance, quality and sustainability. This presentation will give a visual glimpse into the broad world of precast concrete and the wide range of applications. There will also be an introduction into the design approach for total precast structures.

 

Biographical Sketch

Phil Richardson is an engineering graduate of the University of Utah where he also studied geology and architecture. He is a registered Professional Structural Engineer who has been in the construction industry since 1985 serving as a precast plant engineer and as a precast departmental engineering manager. Since 2003, Phil has been a Project Consultant for Coreslab Structures (ARIZ) Inc. He is involved in both the Phoenix chapter of SEAoA and the ABA, where he was a 2007 graduate of their Leadership Development Forum program.
