Topic: Alkali-Silica Reactivity Effects and Mitigation Methods
Speaker: Michael Kohout, P.E. CEMEX USA

The Central Chapter of the SEAoA is hosting a dinner presentation to discuss Alkali-Silica Reactivity (ASR). The presentation will include a summary overview explaining the cause of ASR. The presenters will discuss advantages and limitations of past and current test methods used to identify potentially reactive aggregates. Methods and limitations of mitigating potentially harmful expansions resulting from ASR will be discussed. The presentation will close with a discussion of aggregate qualification testing requirements currently being specified by some agencies with suggestions for specifying aggregate testing for your projects.
