Topic: Avoiding IBC Pitfalls for Structural Engineers

by
Michael Abegg

This presentation will focus on common plan review comments that can delay permits, consume budget hours, and place strain on the relationships between structural engineers and their clients. Often cross-discipline issues are left unresolved when construction documents are submitted to the jurisdiction having authority over the projectMany of the common "pitfalls" can be easily avoided by a little bit of code knowledge and some extra communication during the design stages of a project. The goal of this presentation is to make each attendee a more valuable member of the design team by providing them with a basic IBC knowledge base including structural requirements outside of the "Structural Chapters."
