Dave Endres & Mike Whitman

This presentation will provide attendees with an overview of the various testing procedures for concrete masonry, mortar, and grout including: ASTM C140 Standard Test Method of Sampling and Testing Concrete Masonry Units; ASTM C426 Standard Test Method for Linear Drying Shrinkage of Concrete Masonry Units; ASTM C270 Standard Specification of for Mortar for Unit Masonry- Proportion or Property; ASTM C270 Lab Test Procedures; The purpose of field mortar testing; ASTM C780 Standard Test Method for Preconstruction and Construction Evaluation of Mortars for Plan and Reinforced Unit Masonry; ASTM C270 vs ASTM C780; ASTM C 1019 Standard Test Method for Sampling and Testing Grout.

Dave Endres is the Vice President of Technical Sales at Oldcastle Superlite Block. Mr. Endres has over 29 years of experience industry specializing in masonry mortars and concrete masonry units in addition to handling technical services and managing the bagging operations for Superlite for the past 15 years. Mr. Endres is a long-standing board member of both the Arizona Masonry Guild (AMG) and Arizona Masonry Contractors Association (AMCA). In 2009, he was awarded AMCA’s Leader of the Year Award for his contributions, service and dedication to the masonry industry.

Mike Whitman is a Principal and Lab Manager of Western Technologies. Mr. Whitman has 29 years of experience testing construction materials and inspecting construction projects. His certifications include: NCMA Concrete Masonry Testing Technician; ACI Strength Testing Technician; ACI Strength Testing Proctor; ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade 1; ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade 1 Proctor; ATTI Asphalt Technician; ATTI Asphalt Proctor and Trainer; ATTI Soils/Aggregate Technician; ATTI Soils/Aggregate Proctor and Trainer; ATTI Field Technician; ATTI Field Technician Proctor; NICET Level III Construction Materials Testing Technician Concrete; NICET Level II Construction Materials Testing Technician Soils; NICET Level II Construction Materials Testing; Technician Asphalt; NICET Level II Transportation Engineering Technology Highway Materials.
